So what's this all about then?
Well there's this kid, Yusuke Urameshi, who dies saving a small boy, discovers in the afterlife that there's been a bureaucratic cock up and he wasn't meant to die that way. Eventually he is returned to life as a detective for the spirit world. Then he and various friends from the human, spirit and devil worlds have all sorts of shonen-y adventures for 112 episodes and a couple of movies.
YYH has a fairly sterling English release after a rocky start. In what now seems a bizarre move (but fairly standard for the day), the first thing released in English was the second movie (by US Manga Corps). Funimation would then go onto to grab the TV series and get it an airing on the Cartoon Network. It's also had a very staggered release in the U through MVM.
With Revelation Films taking over Funimation releases in the UK you have to wonder what YYH's future is. Revelation (who used to have the anime label Kiseki) have a history of affordable series sets of series like Dogtanian, Round The Twist and Tomorrow People. However, their presentation and marketing is, while not the worst, certainly not up there with the current crop of UK anime labels.
And back when I was at Videolog they used to be a real pain to get any answers from, unlike MVM, who were a great help, as were the folks at Elevation Sales, who took on MVM's sales and marketing.
