Guardian Obituary
Postgate & Firmin’s Smallfilms’ productions, pretty much filled my childhood through both their repeats of shows made before my birth and through the colour versions of earlier shows, Ivor The Engine and Saga of Noggin The Nog. Especially through that saggy old cloth cat Bagpuss. If you’ve never heard of him, do yourself a favour and read about his life and watch at some Bagpuss and The Clangers. He was an incredibly important person in the development of British television and animation, and it’s a true shame that television doesn’t foster talents like his any longer.
